Specialties and/or Subspecialties

  • Physical Therapy,
  • Sports Medicine

Pat McNamara, PT, DPT, CSCS, holds a doctor of physical therapy degree. Also, he is a certified strength and conditioning specialist. He specializes in sports medicine, post-operative rehabilitation and knee and shoulder pain.

He has a wide array of experiences – working in the hospital, with Special Forces in the Army and with Division I athletes at Elon University. In addition, he has taken multiple courses in manual therapy to supplement his advanced certification in strength and conditioning.

When working with patients, he likes to focus on reducing pain, increasing motion and developing strength, generally in that order. He tries to gear his treatments and exercises towards his patients’ functional goals while reducing the likelihood of re-injury.

He treats patients as he would his own family. He has high expectations for participating in the therapy process, but he will do everything in his power to promote a positive outcome and help his patients enjoy the process.

In his spare time, he enjoys lifting weights, running, hiking, fishing, hunting and being outdoors.

“In high school, I started teaching swim lessons to children and adults of all ages. I saw an opportunity in rehabilitation to help my patients to return to their previous activities.” – Pat McNamara, PT, DPT, CSCS
