Biography

Dr. Sarah Squire is a board-certified radiation oncologist at Cone Health Cancer Center, where she serves as medical director for head and neck oncology. She specializes in treating a wide range of cancers—including breast, brain, spine, thoracic, gynecologic, hematologic, and skin—using advanced radiation therapies and evidence-based approaches. She is passionate about delivering compassionate care close to home and supporting patients and their families throughout their cancer journey.

Originally from California, Dr. Squire was inspired to pursue medicine after a childhood trip to India, where she witnessed the impact of malnutrition. She completed her education and training in Rhode Island before moving to North Carolina for residency. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, running, and cooking. She values the deep relationships she builds with patients and colleagues and thrives in Cone Health’s collaborative, team-based environment.

“Oncology is often an intense line of work, but it can also be tremendously rewarding. Having a dedicated and passionate team energizes me on a daily basis. The team approach embraced by Cone Health truly enhances patients’ experiences. As an extrovert, I thrive off the relationships I build with staff and patients.” – Sarah Elizabeth Squire, MD
