Thomas J. Thekkekandam, MD, is board certified in family medicine and sports medicine. He is a primary care sports medicine physician with wide-ranging professional interests, including non-surgical adult and pediatric orthopedics and sports-related injuries, including fractures, sprains and concussions. He also performs ultrasound-guided nerve, tendon, and joint injections and uses interventional biologics (such as Platelet Rich Plasma).
A problem solver, he focuses on making an accurate diagnosis, prefers rehabilitative techniques, and if necessary, highly specific, minimally invasive procedures. He understands that every human body is unique and reacts differently to interventions. His procedural skill, attention to detail and concern for the individual needs of his patients set him apart. He believes in empowering his patients to choose and maintain an active and healthy lifestyle.
In the past, he has served as a team physician for area high schools and North Carolina A&T University.
Dr. Thekkekandam grew up in Greensboro. Though fitness training is an important part of his life, his true hobby is motorsports.
“I don’t have the typical approach or personality people often expect from a physician. My mantra keeps the patient involved and interested, and when appropriate, I maintain a light and jovial atmosphere.” - Thomas J. Thekkekandam, MD
