    Planned Giving

A legacy gift made with planning and forethought will provide future funding for healthy communities served by Cone Health as well as provide financial benefits for the donor and/or the donor’s family.

A legacy gift can be an expression of gratitude for exceptional care received or experienced, and given as a commitment today that will provide funding for community health needs in the future.

    Legacy Gifts

Legacy gifts come in different forms:

    Estate or Deferred Gifts

These are primarily gifts made through a will. Additionally, gifts directed through a life insurance policy or retirement plan are often the simplest and most tax efficient way of making a planned gift. It doesn’t require a witness or an attorney, it doesn’t affect your current income, it’s completely revocable and you can specify designation in percentage amounts. All that is required is a signed beneficiary designation form provided to the custodian of your retirement account or life insurance policy.

    Life Income Gifts

These are irrevocable gifts funded with cash, securities or other appreciated assets, such as real estate, gifted in exchange for an income stream for life or for a fixed number of years. At the termination of the contract, the remainder of the gift would be distributed to Cone Health, the designated beneficiary. Life Income Gifts include Charitable Gift Annuities and Charitable Remainder Trusts.
