Meet Our Fellows

Jessica Asaro

Jessica Asaro, DNP, FNP-C  

Jessica is a recent graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Doctor of Nursing Practice Program. She is a new nurse practitioner and has been licensed as a family nurse practitioner since June of 2020. Jessica is very familiar with Cone Health, as she was a registered nurse at Cone Health Wesley Long Hospital on the Intermediate Telemetry/Urology unit for six years. She was excited to hear about our new Advanced Practice Provider Residency program and was interested in joining as a fellow to help her gain the confidence, training and tools needed to be successful in her new role. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys traveling and exploring the outdoors with her husband, Austin.

SaraBeth Early

SaraBeth Early, DNP, APRN, AGNP-C  

SaraBeth is an adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner with a doctor of nursing practice degree. She specializes in teens (13 years and older), adults and geriatric patients, focusing on providing an individualized, patient-centered approach. Her background as a critical care nurse guides her to practice with an emphasis on chronic illness prevention and management in an effort to avoid complications and hospitalizations. SaraBeth started her nursing career in 2002 in West Virginia but has been proud to call North Carolina home since 2003. She received both her undergraduate and doctoral nursing degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

SaraBeth enjoys spending her free time with her husband and two daughters. Her hobbies include traveling, medical missions, camping, running and crafts.

Onyeje Ijaola

Onyeje Ijaola, MSN, FNP-BC 

Onyeje is a family nurse practitioner, which has been a lifelong dream of hers. She was a registered nurse for 10 years and has always worked hard to provide holistic care to her patients. She especially enjoys working with underserved populations. She’s excited to be part of the first class of the Cone Health APP Residency program, and knows it will help her smoothly transition into her new role as NP as well as help her to be a better provider overall. Onyeje is a wife and the mother to three children and is a published author. She loves meeting people and making new friends, cooking, baking, sewing, dancing and shopping.

Amy Stephens

Amy Stephens, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Amy is a board-certified family nurse practitioner specializing in family medicine and earned her Master of Science in Nursing at Winston-Salem State University in 2020. She brings 14 years of clinical experience to the table and is nationally certified with The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners National Certification Board. Amy is particularly interested in hypertension management, and is a member of several professional organizations including The American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Epsilon Tau Sigma Honor Society, and The National Society of Leadership and Success. In her free time, Amy enjoys reading novels and exercising.
