Women's Only 5K Walk & Run Sets Records

It was another record-setting year for the Women’s Only 5K Walk & Run. 3,593 participants raised nearly $112,000 in registrations. (Nearly 3,000 participants raised $93,600 last year.)

Registration money funds the Mammography Scholarship Fund, which provides screening mammograms for women who cannot otherwise afford them. Doctors recommend mammograms as the gold standard for detecting breast cancer early.

“Screening mammograms remain the best way to detect breast cancer. They are simply too important not to do,” says Cindy Farrand, President, Women’s Hospital. “It is heartwarming to see so many women make sure other women don’t miss this test.”

The 19th Women’s Only 5K Walk & Run was also made possible by 340 volunteers, 31 sponsors and 25 exhibitors.

”I can’t say thank you enough to everyone involved in joining Cone Health in supporting our community,” Farrand adds.
