Cone Health Earns “Top Performer on Key Quality Measures®” Recognition from The Joint Commission

Five Cone Health hospitals have been named Top Performers on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America. The hospitals were recognized by The Joint Top Performer LogoCommission for exemplary performance in using medically proven ways to improve care in the categories of heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care.

“What matters most to us at Cone Health is the quality and safety of the care our patients receive. That is why we have made it a top priority to improve patient outcomes through scientifically-proven practices,” says Cone Health Executive Director, System Quality and Patient Safety Dennis T. Campbell II, MS, RN. “Being a Top Performer recognizes the knowledge, teamwork and dedication of our entire Cone Health staff.”

To be a 2013 Top Performer, hospitals had to meet three performance criteria based on 2013 accountability measure data, including:

• Achieving cumulative performance of 95 percent or above across all reported accountability measures.

• Achieving performance of 95 percent or above on each and every reported accountability measure where there were at least 30 denominator cases.

• Having at least one core measure set that had a composite rate of 95 percent or above, and (within that measure set) all applicable individual accountability measures had a performance rate of 95 percent or above.

“Delivering the right treatment in the right way at the right time is a cornerstone of high-quality health care. I commend the efforts of Cone Health for excellent performance on the use of evidence-based interventions,” says The Joint Commission President and CEO Mark R. Chassin, MD.

The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Wesley Long Hospital, Women’s Hospital, Annie Penn Hospital and Cone Health Behavioral Health Hospital are among 1,224 hospitals in the United States to achieve the 2013 Top Performer distinction.

The Cone Health results are listed on The Joint Commission website under “Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.”
