Cone Health Recognized for Innovative Approach to Organizational Change

Cone Health has been awarded the 2014 Success Story Award from Press Ganey. The award recognizes Cone Health and its 11,000 employees for innovative efforts to enhance the quality of care, patient experience and employee engagement during a period of cultural transformation. The award was presented at the Press Ganey annual client conference in Orlando, Florida.

“Our employees’ commitment to caring continues to be recognized across the 2015 Success Story Awardcountry and has placed Cone Health as a national leader in caring for our patients,” says Cone Health Executive Vice President, Innovation and Transformation, Joan Evans. “This commitment to exceptional patient care is at the heart of what Cone Health is all about.”

Becoming a health care leader took time and effort. Cone Health dramatically changed its culture. Meetings began with patient stories and examples of corporate values. Employees were surveyed and invited to listening sessions.  Leadership skills were honed and a physician leadership academy was established. All of this led to improved patient, employee and physician satisfaction. More importantly, hospital readmissions and hospital associated infection rates went down and overall quality indicators went up.
