Cone Health Cancer Center Locations Earn Accreditation
The Cone Health Cancer Center has received a three-year accreditation with six commendations from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC).
“This accreditation reflects our continued emphasis on providing exceptional cancer care,” says Cone Health Cancer Center Vice President Skip Hislop. “Very few places offer the technology, the expertise and the compassion that Cone Health Cancer Center does.”
Cone Health Cancer Center was evaluated against 34 standards in five areas by the CoC. The CoC looks at numerous facets of cancer programs, including clinical trials, the credentials of doctors and nurses and efforts to continuously improve cancer care.
Accreditation is given only to those facilities that have voluntarily committed to providing the highest level of quality cancer care, and that undergo a rigorous evaluation and review of their performance. To maintain accreditation, facilities with CoC-accredited cancer programs must undergo an on-site review every three years.
This accreditation applies to Cone Health Cancer Center locations at Annie Penn Hospital, Wesley Long Hospital and MedCenter High Point. Cone Health Cancer Center locations at Alamance Regional Medical Center, MedCenter Mebane and Randolph Hospital are accredited at different times. They have previously been accredited by the CoC.
