Cone Health Hospitals Collect Three Employee-Centered Awards
Annie Penn Hospital collects its third award, Moses Cone Hospital earns recognition for involving physicians and the hospital’s emergency department becomes a “success story.”
For the third consecutive year, Annie Penn Hospital has been named a Guardian of Excellence Award® winner by Press Ganey Associates, Inc. The Guardian of Excellence Award recognizes how involved employees are in their work. Moses Cone Hospital earned an award for physician involvement. The hospital emergency department was recognized for innovation and leadership.
“I tell people all of the time that Annie Penn Hospital is a very special place,” says Behavioral Medicine Service Line President and Annie Penn Hospital President Debbie Green, DNP, RN. “Our employees put the patient in the very center of what they do. When you have a staff like that, patients can’t help but receive exceptional care. ”
Green credits an active employee council, a highly visible administrative team that empowers employees and employees willing to live the Cone Health value of “Caring for Each Other” for the work environment at the hospital.
The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award is a nationally-recognized symbol of achievement in health care. Presented annually, the award honors clients who consistently sustained performance in the top 5% of all Press Ganey clients for each reporting period during the course of one year.
Moses Cone Hospital received a 2015 Press Ganey Commitment to Excellence Award™ for work on physician engagement. This award honors Moses Cone Hospital for continuous improvement over two years in the number of physicians who are enthusiastic about and active in their work at Cone Health.
“We achieved this distinction through the commitment of our entire team at Moses Cone Hospital,” says Cone Health Executive Vice President and Moses Cone Hospital President Mickey Foster. "It takes everyone working together to provide the best care for our patients,” continues Foster. “An extremely engaged team will undoubtedly deliver higher quality services.”
In addition to the Press Ganey Commitment to Excellence Award™, the Moses Cone Hospital emergency department was recognized with a Success Story Award®. Employees were given greater input into decision making on the unit. Processes were also put into place to solicit, track and implement employee ideas for improvement.
“One of the primary keys to success is empowering each team member to make decisions that put our patients first,” says Foster. “The more ownership each employee has, the better care we are able to provide our patients.”
The awards were presented yesterday at the Press Ganey National Client Conference in Orlando, Florida.
