Cone Health Names Director of Government Affairs
Cone Health has named Ryan Blackledge as its director of government affairs. Blackledge is a former senior staff attorney with the North Carolina General Assembly. He replaces BJ Miller who accepted a position in Colorado.
Since 2007, Blackledge has played a key role in drafting legislation at the General Assembly, turning the ideas of legislators into the laws used by North Carolina's citizens. “Ryan’s significant experience in drafting health care legislation will be invaluable in representing Cone Health with local, state and national lawmakers as they make decisions about health care policy, rules and regulations,” says Cone Health Executive Vice President, Strategic Development, Jim Roskelly. “Cone Health is committed to leading the transformation of health care, and Ryan brings the right background and personality to advocate successfully for the interests of our patients, our communities and our organization.”
Blackledge has a special focus on health care law, including health insurance, Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act's impact on North Carolina. “It’s a very exciting time in health care. So much is changing and there are opportunities for creative ideas and new solutions to improve health care quality and cost,” says Ryan. “If health care wants a voice in how these changes occur, we have to meet with elected officials and explain our points of view so they can make informed decisions in the best interests of our patients and communities.”
Blackledge is a graduate of the University of Virginia and has an MBA and a law degree from Tulane University.
