Cone Health Among Top 2 Percent in U.S. News & World Report Rankings
Achieves “High Performing” in nine conditions for which adults often go to a hospital
Less than 2 percent of hospitals rated by U.S. News & World Report are ranked “High Performing” in the nine procedures and conditions that are commonly treated in a hospital. Cone Health is one of them. The ratings evaluate more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide with 63 hospitals coming in as top performing in all procedure and condition ratings. Cone Health is listed under “Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.”
“We know that great health care is about more than just a hospital stay,” says Cone Health Chief Medical Officer Bruce Swords, MD, PhD. “It begins in a doctor’s office, including those we partner with through Triad HealthCare Network. This level of care continues through the therapy, rehabilitation and home follow-up that takes place once you leave the hospital. This recognition shows that our team approach works.”
U.S. News evaluated hospitals in nine of the common procedures and medical conditions.
– Abdominal aortic aneurysm repair
– Aortic valve surgery
– Heart bypass surgery
– Heart failure
– Colon cancer surgery
– Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
– Hip replacement
– Knee replacement
– Lung cancer surgery
“U.S. News evaluates nearly 5,000 hospitals nationwide,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis at U.S. News. “A hospital that emerged from our analysis as one of the best has much to be proud of.”
U.S. News created Best Hospitals procedure and condition ratings to help patients find better care for the kinds of common procedures and medical conditions that account for millions of hospitalizations each year. Objective outcome measures such as deaths, infections, readmissions and operations that need to be repeated, as well as patient satisfaction data largely determined the ratings. The Best Hospitals procedure and condition ratings rely on Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services data for patients 65 and older, as well as survey data from the American Hospital Association and clinical registry data from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
Alamance Regional Medical Center is listed separately by U.S. News and ranked average in all categories. The ratings are available at http://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals.
