Cone Health Listed as Third Top Hospital in State
The Business North Carolina magazine rating is based on a variety of sources.
Cone Health* is third on Business North Carolina magazine’s list of the state’s best hospitals. The magazine compiles an annual ranking of 25 of the leading hospitals in the state. The ranking identifies organizations that excel in patient satisfaction, safety, and low readmission and mortality rates for common conditions and procedures.
“In a state that is home to so many truly outstanding health care organizations, it is great to know that people don’t have to leave our community to find high-quality health care,” says Cone Health CEO Terry Akin. “We are very proud to bring this level of care to the communities we serve.”
The magazine combines data from a number of sources in coming up with its listing. It uses information from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, U.S. News & World Report and The Leapfrog Group, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit that advocates for hospital quality and safety. The data was the latest available as of Dec. 31, 2015.
Duke University Hospital tops the ranking. Mission Hospital in Asheville is second. The list ranks all adult, acute-care medical centers with 50 beds or more. The complete list is available at http://www.businessnc.com/articles/2016-03/chart-toppers-category/.
