A Cone Health cancer nurse has been chosen as the 2016 Oncology Certified Nurse of the Year. Jean Wolf, RN, was given the honor by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC).
Wolf was selected based on her contributions to oncology nursing and nursing service, and her support and promotion of oncology nursing certification.

“Being recognized in this way has helped to reaffirm my belief that a certification in oncology nursing is vitally important for nurses caring for cancer patients across the health care continuum,” says Wolf.
Wolf has been a registered nurse for 38 years, and has been an Oncology Certified Nurse since 2004. She is an avid promoter of certification. Her efforts have resulted in a marked increase in the percentage of eligible oncology nurses at Wesley Long Hospital being certified.
The ONCC is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote excellence in patient care and professional practice by validating specialized knowledge in oncology nursing and related specialties. Certified nurses must pass a three-hour exam that tests their knowledge in nine major subject areas.
