Preparedness Drill to Take Place at Women’s Hospital

As part of its commitment to Caring for Our Communities, Cone Health has scheduled an emergency preparedness drill for Friday, May 13. The drill will take place at Women’s Hospital from 9 until 10:20 a.m.

The exercise will be centered on Women’s Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit and pharmacy. The exercise will include units from the Greensboro Fire Department and the Greensboro Police Department.

“We are a major resource for our community and take very seriously our mission to be prepared for a wide variety of disasters and other emergencies,” says Cone Health System-wide Emergency Management Coordinator Scott Supernaw. “To ensure and improve safety and security, Cone Health is prepared for a wide variety of dangerous and threatening scenarios – both natural and manmade. But, like most things, practice makes perfect, so we hold emergency drills to test ourselves.”

Women’s Hospital will continue operating normally throughout the exercise. Few visitors will notice anything out of the ordinary and patient care will not be impacted.

“We don’t want anyone to be alarmed seeing police, fire and emergency workers in and around the hospital,” says Women’s Hospital President Cindy Farrand. “This is an important part of our commitment to be prepared for our community and to keep our patients safe.”
