Recent Promotions and Hires at Cone Health

The following individuals have joined or have been promoted to new positions at Cone Health:
Daye earned her master’s degree in health administration from Pfeiffer University in Charlotte. She is a certified nurse manager leader.Angela Daye, RN, has been promoted to director of the orthopedic unit at The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. Day has been part of Cone Health since 1988.
Jonna Hunter, RN, joins Cone Health as director of the mother baby unit at Women’s Hospital. She comes to Women’s Hospital from The MetroHealth System in
Cleveland, Ohio. Hunter oversaw pediatrics and the center’s pediatric intensive care unit.
Hunter recently earned her master of science in nursing degree from Chamberlain College of Nursing in Charlotte.
Cherie Smith, RN, has been promoted to director of nursing/patient services at Moses Cone Hospital.
Smith received her master’s degree in business administration and health care administration from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas. She is working on a PhD in nursing through the University of Phoenix. Smith is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Jay Smith has been named executive director of rehabilitation. Smith has served in various rehabilitation leadership positions at Cone Health since 2010, most recently as director of acute rehabilitation.
Jennifer Young, has joined Cone Health as director of compliance services. Previously, Young served as practice administrator for multiple medical practices and clinics at Cornerstone Health Care.
Young earned a dual master’s degree in business and health administration from Pfeiffer University. She is a certified professional coder and a certified professional compliance officer. Young is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the North Carolina Medical Group Managers Association.
