Color Me Cured - 5K Glow-in-the-Dark Walk & Run

The glow-in-the-dark run raises money to help cancer patients.

Annie Penn Hospital, the city of Reidsville and the Rockingham County Tourism Development Authority are hosting the fourth annual Color Me Cured 5K Walk and Run. This year, the event has a new twist—it will be run in the dark. The event raises money for the fight against cancer.

Typical Glow-in-the-Dark Run

The event is Saturday, Sept. 16, starting at Annie Penn Hospital. Each participant will be given a glow-in-the-dark bracelet and will use glow-in-the-dark color run powder. Proceeds go to the Rockingham County Relay for Life. The organization raises money to battle cancer and help patients and families battling it.

The fun begins with a warm-up at 7 p.m. led by Zumba teacher Danielle Baker. A children’s fun run takes off at 7:30 p.m., followed by the 5K race beginning at 8 p.m.  A DJ will be there and the Reidsville Police Department will give ices, popcorn and cotton candy to participants.

Those interested can register online at active.com and search for Color Me Cured Reidsville, NC or by calling 336-951-4853. Registration includes a T-shirt and glow-in-the-dark bracelet. The cost is $30 for adults and $25 for children aged 6 to 14. After Sept. 6, both registrations increase by $5 and no T-shirt is guaranteed. Children age 5 and under are free, but do not receive a T-shirt.
