s, Cone Health has scheduled an emergency preparedness drill at Annie Penn Hospital. The drill takes place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. this Friday, Oct. 27.

Reidsville police will also be involved in the exercise. “We want the drill to look and feel real,” says Cone Health System-Wide Emergency Management Coordinator Scott Supernaw. “But we also don’t want the public to be alarmed if they see a lot of heavily armed police officers moving around and in the building.”

Depending on how the drill unfolds, activity may be in various locations within the hospital.  Regular services to the public will not be delayed. Staff will let patients know what is going on and signs will be posted for hospital visitors.

“We conduct exercises a couple of times a year and this one has been in the planning stages for a while,” says Supernaw. “But recent events show us just how important hospitals are to their communities and how important it is to be prepared.”
