Women’s Only 5K Walk & Run Moves to Oct. 14

The big fundraiser for mammograms moves to avoid being on the same day as the NC A&T homecoming.

The 2017 Women’s Only 5K Walk & Run will be held on Oct. 14. The Women’s Only is moving this year because the North Carolina A&T State University homecoming falls on the first Saturday in October (Oct. 7), which is the

traditional day of the Women’s Only. The change is being made because city services such as traffic control and public safety, will be in use at the A&T homecoming.

The Women’s Only is one of the largest fundraisers of its kind. Last year, 2,111 participants raised more than $122,000 to benefit the Mammography Scholarship Fund. The fund helps uninsured and underinsured women obtain a screening mammogram. Mammography remains the best way of detecting breast cancer at its earliest stage.

Online registration for the 2017 event opens in July. Updates will be posted at
