Cone Health Rewards Staff for Pandemic Work
The health network invests in pay raises and financial incentives.
To show its appreciation and as a way of saying how much it values staff, the Cone Health Board of Trustees approved $40 million in pay raises and bonuses to Cone Health team members.
Health care workers are under increasing strain from the large numbers of mostly unvaccinated patients with COVID-19. The action is part of efforts to recognize and reward them for hard work under trying conditions.
“At Cone Health we are there for one another, we support one another like family. Yet this pandemic takes so much of that away,” says Cone Health CEO Dr. Mary Jo Cagle. “The bonuses and raises are our way of telling our team members, ‘Your unwavering commitment and support have not gone unnoticed. We appreciate you. We care for you. And we can’t thank you enough for answering the call to care for our communities in this time of need.’”
The money will be used to pay for a three percent across the board raise and bonuses of up to $750. (Up to 6% and up to $1,250 those involved in direct patient care, such as nurses, environmental services workers and food and nutrition services workers.) The bonuses and raises are targeted at those not covered under director, executive or physician pay structures.
