Cone Health to Offer Third Dose for Immunocompromised
The vaccination should lower the risk of getting the Delta variant of COVID-19.
Cone Health will begin providing COVID-19 booster shots beginning 8 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 19. These additional doses are for immunocompromised people only. Guidelines for supplemental vaccine for the general population will be provided by the Food and Drug Administration and the CDC at a later date.
Booster shots for immunocompromised people will be offered at all Cone Health community vaccine clinics, with locations and schedules available at conehealth.com/vaccine. Those eligible should schedule a third-dose booster vaccination appointment by visiting conehealth.com/vaccine or calling 336-890-1188 Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Those who schedule an appointment for a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine should bring their COVID-19 vaccination card. Cone Health will check the state’s database to confirm vaccination status if individuals do not have their vaccination card. Proof of immunocompromised status will not be required.
As with first and second doses, there is no cost for receiving a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Information about the importance of booster vaccinations for immunocompromised individuals can be found on the CDC’s web page “COVID-19 Vaccines for Moderately to Severely Immunocompromised People.”
