Cone Health To Open Greensboro Facility in Early 2022

New location features health network’s second free-standing emergency department.

Cone Health MedCenter Greensboro at Drawbridge Parkway opens early next year. In addition to being Cone Health’s second free-standing emergency department, the Greensboro facility will be home to a variety of unique health and wellness services.

The $97 million project is located at the intersection of Battleground Avenue and Drawbridge Parkway – off Interstate 840.Drawing of future MedCenter Greensboro While it is Cone Health’s fifth MedCenter, it is the first 2.0 version of the concept. The 160,000-sq.-ft. facility features three on-site swimming pools for aquatic therapy. A teaching kitchen will give families more confidence for preparing healthy and nutritious meal options. A café will be open for breakfast, lunch and catering needs. Supervised recreation services for children, including an indoor playground, will be available while parents are in appointments or attending classes.

“We are bringing these services together for convenience and to make better health easier to attain,” says Deno Adkins, vice president, ambulatory network, Cone Health. “Health care consumers want to learn how to better handle stress and how to live healthier lives. It’s one thing for someone to share ‘eat healthy’; it’s another thing to participate in a cooking demonstration on how to cook a healthy meal for your family. This facility will bridge that gap for our community.”

Cone Health MedCenter Greensboro at Drawbridge Parkway will also integrate other health services including lab, pharmacy and imaging services. Medical services will include primary care, OB/GYN, sports medicine, heart and vascular care, cancer care and other specialists. The emergency department’s 16 exam rooms and two observation beds will help reduce wait times and volumes on existing emergency department locations.

The MedCenter also features a “front door” parking deck to make it easier for people to find the closest parking option to enter directly on the same level as their appointment.
