FDA Grants Full Approval to Pfizer Vaccine
The vaccine is available in Cone Health clinics.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted full approval to the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for those 16 years old and up. The vaccine (and others from Moderna and J&J) were authorized initially to be used under an emergency declaration.
“This action clearly shows that the vaccine meets the high safety and effectiveness standards of the FDA,” says Dr. Cynthia Snider, infection prevention, Cone Health. “For many, this is the moment they have been waiting for, to feel confident in receiving the vaccine. We enthusiastically urge them to get vaccinated as soon as possible.”
Cone Health has given more than 200,000 COVID-19 vaccinations. Cone Health has seen few adverse effects from any of the COVID-19 vaccines authorized for use in the U.S. under the emergency declaration.
While Cone Health’s experience is that all three vaccines can be safely used, people can choose the vaccine they want to take. People can do so by going to www.conehealth.com/vaccine to register and choosing a location based on the vaccine type offered at each location. Cone Health provides the free vaccines by appointment only.
