Artists Sought for Piece at Guilford County Behavioral Health Center

Calling local artists to submit their letter of intent today.

Greensboro – Cone Health is accepting applications for a signature art piece for the Guilford County Behavioral Health Center. This will be a prominent piece of original art that will anchor the center’s goal of helping patients feel safe, hopeful and empowered.

The new Guilford County Behavioral Health Urgent Care Center provides timely access to mental health services for children and adolescents (age 4-17) and adults. Together, Cone Health and Guilford County have provided comprehensive and convenient behavioral health care to thousands of residents experiencing a mental or behavioral health crisis in a safe and comfortable space since opening in 2021.

Cone Health believes that art is integral to creating a sense of hope, empowerment and a healing environment for all to experience. Goals for the signature art piece project include:

  • Fill the highly trafficked Sally Port Room (patient check-in area) with a piece of art reflecting our diverse patients and their unique experiences.
  • Connect art and wellness in an engaging and meaningful way.
  • Inspire wonder, openness, safety and compassion.

Cone Health is partnering with ArtsGreensboro to manage artists' submissions. In its role as the arts council, ArtsGreensboro is Guilford County's largest source of dedicated financial support, funding arts and culture. Through its robust and competitive grant program, ArtsGreensboro supports individual artists, arts organizations, and educators. It invests in programs that provide access to the arts for all citizens, supports the integration of arts in schools, builds capacity for the arts community, and unifies the community through the power of the arts.
