Harraway-Smith Named Chief Medical Officer at Annie Penn Hospital

She has served as interim medical officer for 9 months.

 

Greensboro – Dr. Carolyn Harraway-Smith is the chief medical officer at Annie Penn Hospital. Harraway-Smith has served in the interim role at Annie Penn Hospital since September 2021.

Harraway-Smith connects the interests of the medical staff with hospital administration to jointly improve patient care. She brings significant experience to the hospital. Harraway-Smith is the chief medical officer for women’s health at Cone Health and will continue in that position. 

Harraway-Smith completed the Health Management Academy (2019) and the Cone Health Physician Leadership Academy (2021). She is in the Certified Physician Leadership Capstone program through the American Association for Physician Leadership.  

Harraway-Smith specialized in obstetrics and gynecology, and family medicine. She earned her medical degree from the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine.

Harraway-Smith attended Oakwood College, Huntsville, Alabama and earned a Bachelor of Science at Loma Linda University/La Sierra Campus, Riverside, California.
