Leschber and Williams Named Outstanding Women in Business

The two were named to the Triad Business Journal’s list of Outstanding Women in Business.


Greensboro – Dr. Valerie Leschber and Youland Williams, MSN, RN were recently named to the Triad Business Journal's 2022 list of Outstanding Women in Business. This award recognizes extraordinary businesswomen for the impact they've had in their professions, industries and communities. 

Leschber is chief medical officer of Cone Health. Since joining Cone Health in 2003, she has guided the system to a 37% reduction in

health care-associated infections and reorganized a process so that hospital physicians meet with patients while they are still in the emergency room, speeding treatment. 

Leschber is on the board of Peacehaven Community Farm and has served as medical director for the Department of Physician Assistant Studies at Elon University. Leschber earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. She completed her residency at The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital and has a Master of Health Administration from the University of Providence in Great Falls, Montana. 

Youland Williams, MSN, RN, is chief nursing officer and vice-president of patient care services at Wesley Long Hospital.

She joined Cone Health in 1990 as an oncology nurse. In her current role, she has seen patient satisfaction increase from the 86th percentile nationally in 2016, to the 96th percentile today. Williams also oversaw the care of the first local patients of the COVID-19 pandemic at Wesley Long Hospital’s ICU.

Williams has participated in Leadership Greensboro and served on the board of Hospice and Palliative Care of Greater Greensboro. Williams earned a master’s degree in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from North Carolina A&T State University.
