Ribbon Cut on Expanded Norville Breast Center

The facility opens to the public next week.

20,000 mammograms were done last year at the Norville Breast Center at Alamance Regional Medical Center. There is now room for a lot more. The ribbon was cut on a new and expanded center that's more than double the size of the old one. Couple looking at mammography machine

The new Norville Breast Center has been designed to make early detection of breast cancer faster, easier and more patient friendly. According to Breastcancer.org, about 1-in-8 U.S. women will develop invasive breast cancer. The good news is that the death rate has significantly declined. That’s due to better treatment and early detection.

Staff of the Norville Breast Center provided tours of the 14,000 sq. ft. facility. It houses five 3D mammogram suites and ultrasound rooms.

The Norville Breast Center moved out of Alamance Regional Medical Center to a location across the street in the Grandview Specialty Clinic, making it much easier for patients to get to with parking right out front.

The move is part of a $34.2 million expansion project that will increase cardiology services at Alamance Regional. The old Norville Breast Center is part of 49,000 sq ft. of space being renovated for that project. 14,000 sq. ft. is being added to the hospital. The heart and vascular center improvements should be completed around the end of the year.
