Cone Health Partners to Provide Holiday Meals for Families in Need

550 boxes of fresh, local food distributed across Greensboro

Cone Health's Center for Health Equity joined forces with Triad Black Faith Leaders and Black Farmers Network, Guilford County's Small Business Entrepreneurship Department, and other community partners to fight food insecurity this holiday season. Together, the groups gathered fresh produce from local farms and prepared 550 meal boxes for families in need.

Each box included collard greens, sweet potatoes, cabbage, rice, gravy, stuffing, and a roasting chicken. "We know that food and security is one of the social drivers of health," said Ricardo Davis, Cone Health Center for Health Equity Assistant Director of Healthy Communities. "Factors like education and transportation can influence up to 80% of a person's health. That's why we join forces with organizations to address these needs."

Distribution began on Wednesday December 17th at 10 sites across Greensboro, including Mount Olivet AME Zion Church on McConnell Road. Additional pickup opportunities continued the next day at Evangel Fellowship Church on East Cone Boulevard.
