Cone Health Updates Masking & Visitor Policies
Flu, RSV, and other respiratory infections are on the rise this holiday season.
Cone Health is taking steps to keep patients, visitors and team members safe as respiratory illnesses like flu and RSV rise in our community. Beginning Wednesday, Dec. 10, new guidelines go into effect across Cone Health hospitals and care locations.
What's changing:
Children 12 and under will not be allowed to visit patients in Cone Health hospitals (exceptions will be made when necessary).
Anyone feeling sick should stay home to protect vulnerable patients. Patients recovering from surgery or fighting off other diseases are often at high risk for catching flu and other respiratory illnesses.
Masking:
Patients and visitors are strongly encouraged to wear masks, especially in waiting areas and if they have symptoms. Cone Health team members will wear masks when caring for patients.
Why now:
Flu and RSV cases are climbing in our region. These precautions help reduce the spread of illness and protect those most at risk.
It's not too late for a flu shot:
Getting vaccinated is one of the best ways to protect yourself and others. Flu shots are still available at Cone Health locations and many community providers.
