Cone Health’s Dr. Olu Jegede Wins Impact Award

Hayes-Taylor YMCA recognizes Jegede’s work addressing health inequalities and improving health.

Greensboro - Dr. Olu Jegede, Cone Health Senior Vice President, Chief Health Equity and Community Impact Officer is the recipient of the Hayes-Taylor YMCA’s Impact Award for 2025.

“Dr. Jegede is recognized for his leadership in improving health and life expectancy in our community,” said Spencer McCall, Hayes-Taylor YMCA Executive Director.

Through his work with Cone Health, Jegede has spearheaded such efforts as the Catch 5 in 5, an innovative, sustainable community outreach program designed to improve the health and raise the life expectancy of people living in ZIP codes where chronic diseases and earlier deaths are common.

Jegede’s visibility and hands-on approach in focusing on the drivers of life expectancy and their root cause, made him the perfect recipient for this award, McCall said.

The Impact Award recognizes individuals whose work aligns with the mission of the YMCA: helping all people gain the tools they need to live healthier, fuller lives.

The awards ceremony was on Sunday, Nov. 2, at the Four Seasons Greensboro at the Koury Convention Center.
