Gargoyles, Patients and Bears
The Greensboro hockey team scored a hat trick of hope, photos, and teddy bears.
Greensboro – Members of the Greensboro Gargoyles made a power play for pediatric patients. They visited children at Cone Health Women’s & Children’s Center at Moses Cone Hospital.
The players brought along teddy bears collected during the team’s recent “Teddy Bear Toss Game” on the home ice at the First Horizon Coliseum. The bears will be used to lift the spirits of children throughout the year, but the players wanted to be among the first to give the bears to the children.
“Passing out the bears around the holidays, really brings smiles to the faces of the children—and our players,” says Casey Ditzel, the director of broadcast and communications for the Gargoyles. “Our mission is to be as involved in the community as much as possible. Connecting the spirit of our fans who tossed these onto the ice to the children in the hospital is a great way of doing that.”
The players and mascot Doyle the Gargoyle also posed for photos with parents and hospital staff.
