Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Chief Human Resources Officer Monica Melancon will open the event and introduce NBC Sports Play-by-Play Reporter Zora Stephenson who will introduce Thompson for a conversation with the 11-time LPGA winner. Thompson is a world-class professional golfer who is perhaps the most recognizable and respected figure on the LPGA Tour.
Turning pro at just 15 years old, she quickly made history as one of the youngest players ever to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open and later became the youngest-ever winner of an LPGA tournament at the time. Known for her powerful swing and competitive fire, Thompson is a force in major championships and international team competitions like the Solheim Cup.
Beyond the fairway, Thompson is a vocal advocate for mental health awareness in sports. She has courageously opened up about the pressures of life on tour, the emotional toll of high expectations and the importance of prioritizing well-being. Her honesty and vulnerability helped reshape the conversation around mental health in professional golf inspiring both fans and fellow athletes to seek balance and support.
After lunch, Stephenson will moderate a panel discussion focusing on advocacy and mental health among:
- Dr. Valerie A. Leschber, Chief Medical Officer, Cone Health
- Kelly Graves, PhD., HSP-P, President & CEO, Co-Founder of The Kellin Foundation, and Owner and Founder, Kellin, PLLC
- Kim Marshall, Chief Human Resources Officer, Travel + Leisure Co.
- Jenna Mendelson, Ph.D., HSP-P, Psychologist, LeBauer Behavioral Medicine, Cone Health
“Women are much more likely to have anxiety disorders and are nearly twice as likely as men to experience depression,” says Leschber. “Mental health is of vital importance to women everywhere.”
“Executive Women’s Day has come a long way since we began hosting it in 2013,” executive director Mark Brazil said. “This event is an opportunity for women to come together around the Wyndham Championship for a day of networking and corporate dialogue, and this year’s ‘Rise to the Challenge’ theme will really resonate with those who attend in person as well as those joining the live stream. It’s great to have Lexi Thompson with us – she’s one of the most popular players in women’s golf, and she’s certainly addressed the importance of mental health awareness. We’re thrilled with the ownership Cone Health takes in this event, and we thank them for their partnership. I think this year’s event will be our best yet.”
