When it Comes to Delivering Your Baby, Look No Further Than Cone Health
Maternity services in Burlington and Greensboro are named high performing by U.S. News.
Greensboro – U.S. News & World Report has named both Cone Health Women’s & Children’s Center at Alamance Regional and Cone Health Women’s & Children’s Center at Moses Cone Hospital as High Performing for Maternity Care in 2026. This is the highest award a hospital can earn as part of U.S. News’ Best Hospitals for Maternity Care annual study.
More than 50,000 women experience short or long-term health problems during pregnancy and childbirth. That is according to the American Hospital Association. At Cone Health, great maternity care begins before childbirth and continues after. It leads to more full-term pregnancies, fewer complications and healthier moms and babies.
“We are again honored to earn the high performing designation from U.S. News for our maternity services,” says Vi-Anne Antrum, DNP, Cone Health Chief Nursing Officer. “It takes a special blend of expertise, technology and compassion to create an outstanding birthing experience. And we work every day to deliver.
U.S. News began evaluating hospitals for maternity care in 2021. For the 2026 edition, approximately 900 hospitals nationwide submitted maternity data for evaluation. Best Hospitals for Maternity Care ratings are intended to help expectant parents, working with their prenatal care providers, to decide where to receive maternity services that best meet their family’s needs.
Cone Health Women’s & Children’s Center’s High Performing designation recognizes factors such as fewer C-sections in lower-risk pregnancies, few severe unexpected newborn complications, high exclusive breast milk feeding rates, and the use of birthing-friendly practices, among other measures.
“Hospitals designated as a U.S. News Best Hospital for Maternity Care are national leaders. This recognition means they are consistently hitting crucial patient safety benchmarks compared to other hospitals,” said Jennifer Winston, Ph.D., health data scientist at U.S. News. “It's a clear signal to expectant parents about where the highest standards of care are being practiced – when parents see this designation, they can be assured they are choosing a hospital dedicated to exceptional, evidence-based maternity care.”
Both Cone Health Women's & Children's Center locations were also named Maternity Care Access Hospitals, recognized for providing crucial maternity care services in communities that would become maternity care deserts without them.
