Cone Health Brings Health Care to East Greensboro
The first parts of the Resurgent are opening.
Greensboro – Nearly two years after groundbreaking, Cone Health Urgent Care at The Resurgent, Cone Health Primary Care at The Resurgent and Cone Health Center for Women’s Healthcare Services at The Resurgent open Thursday, Jan. 22. It is appropriate that the first parts of the mixed-use project to open focus on the health of the east Greensboro Community.
Cone Health’s Center for Health Equity identified The Resurgent’s location at 1806 E. Market Street as being in an area where people on average live 15 fewer years than people in many other ZIP codes in Greensboro. Low-incomes and lack of easy access to health care are among the reasons for the gap.
“We are thrilled to partner with North Carolina A&T on this very exciting project that will have a huge impact on improving the health of the entire community,” says Dr. Olu Jegede, Cone Health Equity & Community Impact Officer. “While we focus on the community’s health, we can’t wait to see the impact that the rest of this building will have.”
The urgent care is on the ground floor. Primary care is on the second. The urgent care will initially open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is an ideal place to receive care for minor ailments such as sore throats, bug bites, eye infections and the flu.
The ground floor is also home to Cone Health Center for Women’s Healthcare Services. It will focus on providing care before and after childbirth. This includes Mom + Baby combined care. That allows mom and baby to receive checkups together reducing trips to the doctor.
Cone Health expects 25,000 visits a year to its facilities The rest of the building will contain offices and an entrepreneurship hub run by North Carolina A&T State University. The hub is designed to nurture the economic health of the community.
The Resurgent is a partnership between Cone Health and NC A&T. Cone Health owns 40% of the $32 million facility.
