Cone Health Names Space in Honor of Johns M. Martin and Family

A generous gift recognizes a long-time Cone Health supporter and heart patient.

Greensboro — Cone Health is naming its newly expanded cardiac catheterization space at The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in honor of Johns M. Martin, CEO of Adams Electric, and his family. This is in recognition of a $1 million gift in support of heart and vascular services at Cone Health. The space will be known as The Johns M. Martin and Family Cath Labs at The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

Cardiac catheterization labs, orJohns Martin Family cath labs, are specialized procedure rooms where physicians treat heart attacks, implant high-tech devices, restore heart rhythms and treat other serious cardiac issues.

The named area includes two state‑of‑the‑art cardiac catheterization labs and 24 patient bays within the hospital’s heart wing, which opened in 2024. The expansion supports advanced, cardiovascular services for patients across the region and reflects Cone Health’s continued investment in high‑quality heart care.

Martin has a deep personal connection to Cone Health. He underwent triple bypass surgery in 2017 and credits Cone Health physicians and caregivers with saving his life and giving him the chance to enjoy a long, healthy future. Several of his family members have also recently received care at Cone Health, further strengthening their long-standing relationship with the organization.

“Cone Health gave me a second chance at life,” said Martin. “I am forever grateful to the physicians and care teams who were with me when I needed them most. This gift is a way to say thank you while investing in the continued excellence of Cone Health’s heart and vascular care well into the future.”

In addition to being a grateful patient, Martin has other connections to Cone Health. Cone Health and his company, Adams Electric, have a longstanding relationship of partnering to serve our community.

“The Martins’ generosity ensures patients across our region have access to advanced heart and vascular care in a space designed to deliver the best possible results,” says Dr. Jake Hochrein, Chief, Cone Health Heart & Vascular.

In addition to this gift, Martin and his family previously contributed to the Steven D. Bell Family Heart & Vascular Center. Together, these contributions reflect the family’s enduring support of cardiovascular services and patients at Cone Health.
