Cone Health Plans Hospital in Forsyth County 

The health system is applying for 56 acute care beds allocated to Forsyth County.  

What’s new: Cone Health plans to expand its brand of value-based care to consumers in Forsyth County. It filed a certificate of need (CON) with the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation today.  The 198,593 square-foot facility will be in southeast Forsyth County at 0 Cole Rd. That is west of I-74/Hwy 311 where it is connecting into the Northern Beltway. 

Why is this important: “The proposed facility will bring the high-quality, value-based care that Cone Health is known for, closer to our neighbors in Winston-Salem, Kernersville and Forsyth County,” says Cone Health Chief Strategy Officer Chris Cornue. “We have been a part of Forsyth County since we opened MedCenter Kernersville in 2008. I am excited as we build on that foundation.” 

                                                                                 

The proposed hospital will complement existing Cone Health facilities in Kernersville, Winston-Salem, High Point and western Guilford County. Being along I-70 and the Northern Beltway puts the hospital within easy reach of east Winston-Salem, Rural Hall, King and High Point. 

Features: The CON submission for the hospital in Forsyth County includes: 

  • 56 acute care beds 
  • 18 emergency department bays 
  • 4 procedure rooms built to operating room standards 
  • 10 observation beds 
  • Imaging 
  • Pharmacy 
  • Intensive care beds
