Mental Health, Chronic Disease Top Area Health Concerns
Cone Health’s assessment of area health needs is now online.
Greensboro—An extensive survey by Cone Health finds many familiar concerns when it comes to what people see as our biggest health challenges. Cone Health has released its 2025 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). The comprehensive survey uncovers the health challenges facing people in Alamance, Forsyth, Guilford, Randolph and Rockingham counties.
The CHNA is conducted every three years. Cone Health aligns programs, partnerships, and resources based on the survey findings.

The 2025 CHNA highlights nine significant health needs:
- Mental Health
- Diabetes
- Nutrition, Physical Activity & Weight
- Substance Use
- Heart Disease & Stroke
- Infant Health & Family Planning
- Injury & Violence
- Cancer
- Sexual Health
“The good news is that we already know how to avoid or treat most of these health issues,” says Dr. Angelo Sinopoli, executive vice president, value-based care. “Our focus on value-based care—on prevention, on access—is well position to make headway on these concerns.”
Professional Research Consultants conducted the research for Cone Health. 652 surveys were conducted by phone, online or in person. People from more than 100 community organizations ranging from governments and schools to YMCAs and Meals on Wheels were also involved.
