Talley to Lead Cone Health Heart & Vascular Services

For Dee Talley, treating heart disease is personal.

Greensboro – Dee Talley, RN, MHA, is the new vice president of Cone Health Heart & Vascular Services. As such, she will lead one of the most advanced cardiovascular programs in the nation. Talley has been involved in efforts creating better heart and vascular care at Cone Health for more than 20 years.

Talley has a long history of pursuing new technologies and new services and implementing them in ways that greatly benefit patients. She also led the planning and launch of the Steven D. Bell Family Heart & Vascular Center in Greensboro.

“Growing up, I lost a grandmother and a dear uncle to heart disease. They died far too young,” explains Talley. “At the time, our family didn’t have the information, resources, or even convenient health care that might have made a difference. Those experiences drive me to ensure that every person, regardless of background or circumstance, has exceptional heart care.”

When Talley was a director in the Cone Health cardiovascular program she built North Carolina’s first non-transplant Joint Commission–certified ventricular assist device program. Her teams provided care that was routinely in the top 1% nationally (STS 3-star ratings). Work that helped patients avoid returning to the hospital for additional care (another quality metric) often exceeded regional and national benchmarks.

Talley began her Cone Health career as a clinic manager for cardiovascular and thoracic surgery. She holds a Master of Health Administration from Pfeiffer University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UNC Greensboro. Talley is a member of the American College of Cardiology.
