At the Research, Evidence-Based Practice and Quality Symposium, nurses and other health care providers enhance knowledge and develop strategies to integrate evidence-based practice and research into clinical practice and to create or influence health policy.

Keynote Marcus Engel places an unforgettable name and face to the patient experience movement by blending personal narratives with evidence based research.
Marcus’ experience as a survivor of massive trauma, author, academic background and engaging teaching style, uniquely combine to make him one of the nation’s premier healthcare thought leaders. Marcus has authored four books which are being used by scores of nursing schools, medical schools and allied health care programs to teach strategies for excellent patient care.

Hudson Garrett Jr., PhD., MSN, MPH, FNP-BC, CSRN, VA-BC™, CDONA, GDCN, CDT, PLNC, MSL-BC, IP-BC, FACDONA believes in advancing global evidence based practices to reduce healthcare associated infections, improve patient satisfaction and occupational safety, reduce costs and improve overall outcomes.
Dr. Garrett is employed as the Global Chief Clinical Officer for Pentax Medical. He holds a Post-Masters Certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner, a Post-Masters Certificate in Infection Prevention and Infection Control, and a PhD in Healthcare Administration and Policy.
He was honored as the 2016 Honorary Lifetime member from the National Association of Directors of Nursing Administration and has received the Impact Award for his contributions to the field of infection prevention and control in post-acute care. He considers customer service, interprofessional collaboration, integrity and transparency as core components to successful outcomes.
Dr. Kelly Graves
Keynote Dr. Kelly Graves is the co-founder and volunteer Director of the Kellin Foundation. She is a licensed psychologist in the state of North Carolina.
Dr. Graves has extensive experience in working with community-based programs to bridge the gap between research and practice by developing systems that are data-driven, collaborative, culturally congruent, and individualized to meet the needs of the target population.
She is an accomplished researcher and has published dozens of books, book chapters, and journal articles on the topic of risk and resiliency among children exposed to violence and trauma across services systems.She has designed and implemented multiple local, state, and federal research programs that examine and enhance the implementation and delivery of services across multiple service settings. She is a consultant with the United States Department of Justice and was named of the Triad Business Journal 2015 Top 40 Leaders Under 40. She has won several national awards for her work in the areas of trauma and trauma informed care.
