Cassandra Galloway: Cone Health Invested in My Growth
To Cassandra Galloway, nursing is more than a profession. It’s a calling.
“If you love nursing, it shows in your practice,” she says. “People see it.”
Career Evolution
Cassandra’s held many roles during her years at Cone Health. She began as a nurse tech at Wesley Long Hospital. As she advanced her education—with financial assistance from Cone Health—she also advanced her career.
While working at Cone Health, Cassandra became a registered nurse (RN), earned her bachelor of science in nursing (BSN), and completed dual master’s degrees in business administration (MBA) and health administration (MPA). The master’s degree program she enrolled in was offered at Cone Health in partnership with Pfeiffer College.
“People invest in your growth here,” she says.
Giving to The Next Generation
Today, Cassandra’s the one encouraging young nurses, nurse techs and students to grow their skills. Her enthusiasm for learning and pride in nursing is contagious, say those who work with her.
As a professional development specialist in the staff education department, Cassandra serves as a mentor and teacher as she coordinates the nurse tech +3 program and the Nurse Extern Program.
“I love the new students, whether they are nurse techs, nurse externs, new graduates or experienced nurses,” she says. “It is so great when they can ‘connect the dots’ and see the benefits of education. They can see how what they learn will help them in practice.”
