Program Eligibility

The 2026-2028 Cone Health Administrative Fellowship is open to individuals with a graduate degree. For applicants who must complete a fellowship to fulfill a graduation requirement as part of a graduate program, coursework must be completed by May 2026.

The ideal candidate for the Administrative Fellowship is a highly motivated self-starter who demonstrates excellent communication and presentation skills, exceptional performance in graduate coursework, and a willingness to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by the Fellowship program. Applicants should be able to demonstrate general knowledge of Cone Health, professionalism, leadership potential, and overall fit with the organizational culture.

Application Requirements

Interested internal and external applicants should submit the following application materials through iCIMS, Cone Health's free application portal by Sept. 3, 2025:

  1. Current Resume
  2. Unofficial Graduate School Transcript
  3. Three (3) Letters of Recommendation. Letters may be academic, professional, or from other sources. At least one academic and at least one professional recommendation is required. *
  4. Prompted Personal Statement (see questions below)

*If you graduated your from your master’s program before 5/31/2024, an academic letter is not required, but it is still encouraged.

Letters of Recommendation Notes: All letters of recommendation should be addressed to the Administrative Fellowship Selection Committee. If your recommender prefers to contact the program directly, please have your recommender email a PDF version of his/her letter to Administrative.Fellowship@conehealth.com with the subject line "Last Name of Applicant, First Name of Applicant: Recommendation Letter for Cone Health Administrative Fellowship".

Prompted Personal Statement Questions: Please answer each of the questions below (in 300 words or less per response). Place all answers into one PDF document. Please also denote whether your interest is finance, operations or both.

  • Please provide an example of when you successfully implemented process improvements and how do you envision applying similar strategies to Cone Health, specifically focused on operational efficiency.
  • Given the dynamic nature of healthcare finance, how would you balance the need for cost containment with the imperative to maintain high-quality patient care, and what strategies would you employ to achieve this balance at Cone Health? How does the value-based care environment impact your answer?
  • Cone Health places significant value on continuous learning and development. Please describe a time when you actively sought new knowledge and skills to address a complex issue. How do you plan to integrate a commitment to lifelong learning into your professional career, beginning as a fellow?
  • What is on the horizon for healthcare that you are most excited about? How do you see Cone Health operating in the future?
  • What is your personal motivation for a career in healthcare leadership?

Selection Process

The Administrative Fellowship Selection Committee will review all applications and evaluate applicants on academic performance, professional and personal experiences, personal statement and letters of recommendation. Once phone interviews have been completed, finalists will be invited for interviews with executive leadership on-site in Greensboro, N.C.

The Administrative Fellowship Selection Committee will select the most qualified candidates to participate in face-to-face interviews at Cone Health.

Overnight accommodations and all other travel expenses for in-person interviews will be provided by Cone Health.
