Vacation
Each resident is allowed 15 work days (Monday through Friday) of paid vacation during PGY-1, PGY-2, PGY-3 and PGY-4. Holiday scheduling is handled within the individual programs.
Medical Leave
10 work days of medical leave are allotted to each resident at the beginning of each training year.
Benefits
Health Insurance
Health Insurance is provided for each resident and family based on Cone Health benefit policies.
Professional Liability Insurance
Professional Liability coverage (including tail coverage) is provided by Cone Health for all residents in pursuit of their duties associated with the curriculum of the training program.
Moving Expenses
Residents moving to Greensboro to begin training will be reimbursed for actual moving expenses up to $750.
Travel
At the discretion of the Program Director, the program will fund attendance at one professional conference per year, such as APDIM, NCACP, etc. for a resident who is presenting scholarly work.
Covered Expenses
Professional expenses covered over the 3-year residency include: USMLE Step 3 (or COMLEX 3) exam registration, NCMB licensure fees for resident training license and renewals, ABIM Board Exam if taken in August following graduation.
Training License
The cost of the training license (RTL) will be reimbursed.
Child Care
The Children's Corner is conveniently located onsite for children of hospital employees.
Parking
Free parking for residents is provided in the physician parking lot.
Library/Photocopying
Several electronic resources are available through the Cone Health Medical Library. Residents have free photocopying privileges.
Call Rooms
The call rooms are private rooms with a computer and television.
Other Benefits
Residents may receive discounts on charges for certain services provided by Cone Health.
