Message from the Director

Thank you for your interest in our program!

Cone Health is a not-for-profit healthcare system providing care across a 6-county region in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. Our system encompasses over 5 hospital campuses, 6 ambulatory care centers, over 120 physician practices, and 9 community pharmacies.

This program will be dedicated to developing clinical practitioners through both longitudinal and block learning experiences that will enhance the resident’s patient care, leadership, and practice management skills in the community, ambulatory care, and specialty pharmacy settings. Another goal of the program will be to increase our presence in our community where we can show patients that we are right there with them through new and innovative services. The program will also help foster professional relationships among other health care providers through collaborative and integrative care models.

Program Purpose

PGY1 residency programs build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives. Residents who successfully complete PGY1 residency programs will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education, and be prepared to provide patient care, seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (i.e., BCPS), and pursue advanced education and training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies.
