3 Ways to Beat the Cold Weather Blues

3 Ways to Beat the Cold Weather BluesAnother day below freezing. Day after day of below freezing temperatures can make you bored, irritable and even depressed. Fortunately, you can take three simple steps, besides wishing for spring, to nullify the effects of cold weather.

Stay active. Exercise makes us feel better. Don’t skip the gym workouts because of the cold walk to the car. And, yes, you can take your regular walks, or even runs, through the neighborhood. Go online and search “how to exercise in the cold” for lots of tips on how to prepare.

Stay social. Schedule indoor activities with friends and other families. Keep busy and engaged. Have friends over for dinner. Host a gathering to watch football. Be creative with things to do, both individually and with others.

Stay patient. Our cold wave is temporary. In a few days, the weather will break and you can resume your normal activities.

Remember that others may react differently to the weather. The thought of staying cooped up in the house may drive you crazy. While for others, the weather provides a great excuse to curl up in front of a warm fire and polish off a few novels or binge watch TV. Just leave the junk food alone.
