Lymphoma Treatment Options
Discover what your personal lymphoma care plan could include at Cone Health. We’ll tailor treatment to your:
- Type of the illness (Hodgkin lymphoma or non-Hodgkin lymphoma)
- Stage of the cancer (how far it has spread)
Watching & Waiting
If you don’t have symptoms and your lymphoma grows slowly, you might not need treatment right away. Instead, your cancer doctor may start active surveillance. This means frequent checkups and lab tests to monitor the cancer cells. You’ll need to start treatment if the cancer spreads or you develop lymphoma symptoms, like:
- Swelling or lumps in your neck, armpit, or groin
- Fever and night sweats
- Weight loss
- Itchy skin
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy can kill cancer cells anywhere in your body. For lymphoma, your doctor may prescribe two or more chemo drugs to make treatment work better. You’ll likely receive the medicine as an infusion—intravenously (IV), or through a vein. Rest assured; your care team will keep you as comfortable as possible. Learn about Cone Health’s chemotherapy suites with amenities that make infusion sessions easier.
Immunotherapy
Immunotherapy (biotherapy) helps your body’s immune system fight cancer cells. Your Cone Health doctor may prescribe a specific type of drug called monoclonal antibodies. These are the most common biologic medicines for lymphoma. They find and destroy harmful white blood cells that cause the disease.
Radiation Therapy
Radiation uses high-energy X-rays to kill cancer cells in your lymph nodes (glands in your neck, armpit, groin, and torso). You can trust Cone Health for top-quality treatment that spares as much healthy tissue as possible. We’ve earned radiation accreditation and certification for providing safe, effective care. Learn more about our exceptional radiation therapy services.
Clinical Trials
At Cone Health, you have access to promising new treatment options before they’re widely available. That’s because we participate in clinical trials (research studies). If you qualify for a trial, you may benefit from an innovative approach to cancer care. You’ll also help advance treatment for other people with lymphoma. That’s crucial because many types of lymphoma are uncommon, and there’s still much to learn about them.
