If a diagnostic or physical exam shows signs that could mean cancer, our team steps in right away. We contact you the same day you are referred to us, in most cases, and typically see patients within two days of their referral to us.

Expert, Coordinated Care
Through our rapid diagnostic service, you’ll be cared for by:
- Medical oncologists and other cancer experts who work together to confirm or rule out a cancer diagnosis.
- Experienced nurse practitioners and physician assistants who specialize in cancer care.
What You Can Expect
We coordinate your testing, imaging and biopsies so that everything moves forward smoothly and quickly. Through our rapid diagnostic service, we will:
- Review your medical history and records.
- Order and schedule the right tests, such as advanced scans or biopsies.
- Keep you informed at every step of the process.
- Share results quickly with you and your doctor.
- If cancer is found, connect you right away with the right cancer specialist at Cone Health Cancer Care.
For Referring Providers
Providers Using Epic
Ambulatory referral to Hematology Oncology order and choose the desired Cone Health Cancer Center location.
Providers Not Using Epic
Send referrals per usual process to Cone Health Cancer Center. All referrals are reviewed by the RDS navigator for patient contact and scheduling within two business days.
