If you’re a Cone Health cancer patient who’s not feeling well, schedule a visit to our Symptom Management Clinic in Greensboro or Burlington. We’ll try to see you the same day, so you don’t have to wait for care. You’ll find us inside Cone Health Cancer Centers at Wesley Long Hospital and Alamance Regional.

The clinic is open from 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

What to Expect

At the clinic, you’ll meet one of our advanced practice providers. They have years of experience in cancer, blood illnesses, emergency care, and intensive care. They’ll ask about your concerns, schedule tests, and talk to your oncologist (cancer doctor). With our help, you may avoid a costly trip to an emergency department.

When to Call Us

Let us know as soon as you notice any of these symptoms. By reaching out early, you can prevent more serious problems.

Signs of Infection

  • Chills soon after chemotherapy
  • Fever over 100.4 degrees
  • Mouth sores that make it hard to eat or drink
  • New rash
  • Redness or pain where you have an IV or port 

Bleeding

  • Blood in urine or stool
  • Nosebleed

Digestive Symptoms

  • Abdomen (belly) pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Going to the bathroom more often
  • Nausea or vomiting

Neurological Changes

  • Dizziness
  • Double vision
  • Headache
  • Weakness in the arms or legs 

Other Symptoms

  • Extreme fatigue
  • Extreme thirst
  • New pain or more pain
  • Shortness of breath that’s new to you
  • Swelling of the arms or legs

When to Seek Emergency Care

Call 911 if you feel chest pain, can’t breathe, or have other symptoms that need care right away. Learn when to come to the emergency department.
