Travel Vaccinations: Keep Your Employees Safe This Summer

Travel Vaccinations: Keep Your Employees Safe This Summer

After the long lockdown and isolation from the COVID-19 pandemic, many of your employees are probably more anxious than ever for summer vacation plans. We have some tips to keep your crew safe, and information about our convenient Greensboro location where they can get travel vaccinations before they hit the road or take to the skies.

Where Your Employees Might Be Traveling This Year

Flight data suggests that your employees probably have a handful of domestic and international destinations in mind as they book travel for summer vacations. The beaches in Florida, Puerto Rico, North Carolina, Hawaii, and elsewhere are perennial favorite destinations. But this year, some are taking advantage of flight deals to visit places like the Dakotas, Egypt, or Alaska.

Whether their travels will take them to a nearby city or around the globe, there are some basic travel safety tips you can share with them that will help them stay healthy. In addition to what we have included below, be sure to review the evolving, current recommendations for domestic and international travel from the CDC.

Airport Safety This Summer

The Transportation Security Administration has continued to step up safety protocols for all travelers in the last year. This downloadable and printable infographic, "What to Know Before You Go" summarizes some key information your employees should have before heading to the airport. They have also listed some general guidelines on their website.

Here are a few ways to minimize the risk of infection in and around airports:

  • Continue to socially distance as much as possible.
  • Be particularly diligent with hand washing and sanitizing as you visit restrooms and airplane lavatories, handle luggage, and move through security checkpoints.
  • Continue to wear a properly fitted mask inside the airport and on the plane. Be especially careful about removing your mask for eating. Limit or avoid that exposure completely, if possible.
  • Don't join crowds in the typical bottleneck areas around baggage claim and boarding queues. Wait until they thin out before you proceed.

Which Travel Vaccinations Will Your Employees Need This Summer?

In addition to having a COVID vaccine, your employees should review both the general CDC travel vaccination guidelines and their recommended vaccinations based on your travel destination. The Cone Health Employee Health & Wellness professionals in our area are able to administer the following travel vaccinations:

  • Chickenpox
  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Flu (seasonally)
  • Japanese encephalitis
  • Measles/mumps/rubella

  • Tetanus/diphtheria
  • Typhoid
  • Yellow fever
