High Blood Pressure Management
If you have high blood pressure (also known as hypertension), your heart works harder than it should to pump blood. This can damage your arteries and cause heart attacks, strokes, kidney disease and other health problems.
Managing your blood pressure is key to lowering your risk for life-threatening health conditions.
The Cone Health Advanced Hypertension Clinic offers care for hard-to-control high blood pressure. Our team of physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, social workers and health coaches work with you to develop a personalized care plan. About Blood Pressure
Blood pressure measures the force of blood pumping through your arteries. Your arteries are blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart.
Doctors use two numbers to measure blood pressure. The top number (systolic) measures how much force your vessels feel when your heart squeezes. The bottom number (diastolic) is the pressure left inside the vessels between each heartbeat.
A normal systolic blood pressure reading is less than 120, and a normal diastolic reading is less than 80.
Your medical chart will show your blood pressure reading as a fraction, like 120/80.
