Homemade Instant Oatmeal
Need a quick and healthy breakfast? Make your own instant oatmeal! With this recipe you can control sugar and salt amounts that tend to be high in pre-packaged instant oatmeal packs, all for a fraction of the cost and none of the preservatives.
Recipe
In a sandwich bag, put:
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup dried fruit
- 2T chopped nuts
- 2 tsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground flax or chia seeds
- 1/8 tsp cinnamon
- pinch of salt
Pour into bowl, add 1 cup of hot water or skim milk and stir to thicken
